The Power of Words
Words Matter. A lot.
One lesson I have learned and continue to work on is: the power of words.
Below is a quote from Don Miguel Ruiz in his book, The Four Agreements:
“The word is not just a sound or a written symbol. The word is a force; it is the power you have to express and communicate, to think, and thereby to create the events in your life… The word is the most powerful tool you have as a human… But like a sword with two edges, your word can create the most beautiful dream, or your word can destroy everything around you.”
The words that you use on a daily basis, both to yourself and to others, make a bigger impact than you might think. What you say is how you see the world. If you say or think “I am stupid” enough times, you will believe it to be true. If you say or think “I am confident” enough times, you will believe that to be true.
“I am” are two of the most powerful words in the English language.
Consider noticing the words that you use toward yourself and others. This awareness alone can help change your life.
